Jesaja 55:1: “Kom, almal wat dors is, kom na die water toe, selfs ook dié wat nie geld het nie, kom, koop en eet; ja, kom, koop sonder geld en sonder om te betaal, wyn en melk.”

Stel jou ’n fantastiese restaurant voor waar jy gratis kan eet en drink. Ons sal gou-gou daar wees!

In hierdie verse skyn God se vrye genade helder. Die belofte van terugkeer uit ballingskap, die vergifnis van sondes en die herstel van hulle land is God se geskenke. Hulle word genooi om te kom deel aan God se seëninge sonder om daarvoor te betaal of te werk. Hulle mag deel in die ongelooflike gawe van God se redding. Hierdie redding gaan die mens se verstand te bowe. Mense mag dalk nie vergewe nie, maar God doen.

Net soos ’n mens nie neutraal kan reageer wanneer iemand sê dat hy of sy ons liefhet nie, kan ons nie neutraal wees oor God se liefde vir ons nie. God roep ons om weg te draai van ons mislukkings en sy vergifnis met vreugde te aanvaar. Ons reageer met liefde omdat sy liefde Hy ons harte met sy liefde gewen het.

Die Here se genade doen wonderwerke. In Jesus kom God self elke belofte na (2 Kor 1:16-22). Kom vier God se fees! Kom met leë hande, want Hy voorsien alles wat nodig is. Dit is gratis!
